Maternity guide

What to bring…

  • Neutral / colour skin strapless bra (I have nipple covers in case you cannot find one or if we go for fabrics / nude instead of dresses.

  • Seamless neutral coloured underwear (I will be providing an unused piece of underwear if you cannot find one).

  • If choosing open belly dresses wear color pretty underwear to match your dress or choose a nude seamless underwear so it blends in.

  • Bring high heels (if you wear them), some dresses will show your shoes but even if they don’t, high heels will give you a more elongated form which is nicer when photographed. These will not always be used, just in case I see the need.

  • If a partner and/or children will join the shoot, please bring them neutral coloured clothes and avoid anything with logos or drawings or patterns. You could bring several options and we can discuss here what would look best with the outfit mom will wear. Don’t forget shoes and belts!

Other Thins to consider…

  • Sessions last anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, it all depends on the type of session chosen (and number of participants), we will not go over the 2 hr time limit and in average it will take us 1.5 hrs to complete a session. If having your hair and/or makeup done that day, please make sure your MUAH is done on time.

  • If bringing little ones to the session, I strongly recommend to bring them lots of snacks and toy options so they keep themselves entertained while not being in the shot. Also, keep in mind that they like to be in the shot for a very short period of time, so we will do a pose and let them play while we continue with the shoot, then come back to them for another pose and so on.

  • If you want to get those flowy fabric shots and come with your partner, I will be using them as “assistants” to get the shot, if the shot is by yourself, consider bringing your best friend :), otherwise let me know so I can prepare and use someone else as assistant (keep this in mind as there might be another party in the studio - always a woman)

  • At ARP we use Photoshop and other editing tools to make the final product look as per ARP’s artistic vision, things like stretch marks, bruises, extra bumps are edited as per the photographer’s vision, please let us know if you’d rather leave this as-is but be mindful that some skin retouching will still take place. Although we don’t change anyone’s body type, we do retouch to have a final product that goes with the style of the photographer. Also, keep in mind things that will NOT be retouched: cover grey hair, remove body hair, digitally fix manicure and pedicure, tan lines; these things should be taken care of before your session.
