Fitness Session Guide

How to prepare for your session…

  • Preparation for a fitness photo shoot is all about showcasing strength, health, and confidence. Here's a guide for you to shine during the session:

    1. Workout Routine: Leading up to the shoot, the model might follow a tailored workout plan to enhance muscle tone and definition. Include resistance training and cardio for a balanced look.

    2. Nutrition and Hydration: Stay hydrated, but avoid foods that cause bloating. Opt for lean proteins, healthy fats, and vegetables. Some models "carb-load" briefly beforehand to enhance muscle fullness. - But you guys know better than me!!! :)

    3. Skin Care: Maintain a consistent skincare routine for glowing, healthy skin. Moisturize and exfoliate, and avoid drastic treatments right before the shoot to prevent redness.

    4. Wardrobe Prep: Choose workout attire that highlights physique and matches the shoot's tone—whether bright and sporty or sleek and minimalist. We should stick to the brand identity and colours.

    5. Practice Poses: Spend time in front of a mirror rehearsing poses that emphasize strength and form. Research fitness photography for inspiration and provide me with your goals. Do not spend too much time on this though as we don’t want to get overwhelmed.

    6. Hair and Makeup: Keep it natural and sweat-friendly. Hairstyles should be practical yet flattering, and makeup should emphasize the natural glow without overwhelming the look.

    7. Rest and Recovery: A well-rested body performs better and looks more energetic. Sleep sufficiently to allow muscles to recover.

    8. Mental Readiness: Confidence is key. Relax, focus on the narrative of fitness you're portraying, and step into the shoot with a positive mindset. Being your authentic self is the best guide for a successful photoshoot! don’t get stuck in the “I’m not a model mentality” and let’s have fun!

Other Thins to consider…

  • Sessions last anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, it all depends on the type of session chosen (and number of participants), we will not go over the 2 hr time limit and in average it will take us 1.5 hrs to complete a session. If having your hair and/or makeup done that day, please make sure your MUAH is done on time.

  • At ARP we use Photoshop and other editing tools to make the final product look as per ARP’s artistic vision, things like stretch marks, bruises, extra bumps are edited as per the photographer’s vision, please let us know if you’d rather leave this as-is but be mindful that some skin retouching will still take place. Although we don’t change anyone’s body type, we do retouch to have a final product that goes with the style of the photographer. Also, keep in mind things that will NOT be retouched: cover grey hair, remove body hair, digitally fix manicure and pedicure, tan lines; these things should be taken care of before your session.
